WordPress SEO tips for your business

Focus your website titles

The <title> tag of your webpage should be unique for every page on the site, and designed to maximize your keywords. Take the time to ensure your title includes the best keywords possible and remember that your company name is rarely searched for (except by people who already know who you are) so instead focus your title tags on what you want people to find.

Design your website with SEO in mind

Before you decide to hire a web designer, take the time to look at their knowledge of search engine optimization by looking at their online portfolio and searching for clients. Don’t just focus on the obvious keywords such as the company name, focus on relevant keywords that would help you find them, as if you’re actually looking.

If you’re a web designer or building your own WordPress website, do the same things. Focus a part of your time on building WordPress SEO into your website. Take the time to think about how a prospect would find your client on search engines and build their website to focus on those keywords.

Test your website for SEO

I’ve talked before about testing your website, but it’s not enough to ensure that it simply works. You’ll want to test your site to see what the search engines think about you.

Be sure your site is fast enough

Search engines take your website speed, and hosting into consideration when ranking your website. When you’re picking a host for your WordPress website, take the time to investigate not only how well they can serve you (and your website) but also ensure they’re the right fit for your online reputation and SEO impact.

Schedule content with fresh new articles

Add new, useful content to your website on a regular basis to improve your website ranking and attract a new audience. Fresh content helps improve your website in search engines as well as gives readers a reason to come back to your website more often.

Remember to schedule your posts in WordPress to get the best bang for your buck!

Link phrases, not words

One of the biggest mistakes I see on websites is the habit of hyperlinking the wrong words. Never (never, ever, ever) link words like “click here”, instead focus on phrases that are relevant to what you’d like to be know for.

For example, if you’re a Toronto WordPress theme developer, link those words. Avoid (let me stress this again), linking single words or inconsequential phrases and focus on things that your website is targeting.

Be sure blind people can read your content

Whatever you do, be sure that blind people can access your content. That way, you’ll also be 100% sure that search engines can view your content. What does this really mean?

  • avoid Flash and other rich media websites;
  • avoid JavaScript based menus;
  • include ALT tags and image maps;

Content will always be king

Nothing matters more on a website than content. If you’re not a great writer, try outsourcing your writing to a freelance writer, or simply install JetPack to help ensure you’re running a great grammar / spellchecker on WordPress.

Great links can meet everything

Great content will always be the most important thing a website can build, but you need to remember to back link all of your content and promote your own articles!

Worry about PageRank, but not too much

PageRank is just one on many factors taken into consideration when ranking your website. Yes, hope that your website (and pages) get a great PageRank but don’t focus on it.

Hope it helps you lot..!!
